    Located on beautiful Vashon Island in the heart of Puget Sound, Vashon Community Care (VCC) has been providing high-quality, personalized and compassionate care to older adults since 1928. As our community is moving forward in building upon the services we provide our residents, VCC is looking for an experienced and dedicated Executive Director to join our team.

     

    Vashon Community Care, a Transforming Age community, is part of a growing network of services, products and partnerships dedicated to transforming the perception of age and enhancing the lives of older adults. We are a top 35 senior housing not-for-profit organization committed to improving the lives of older adults through housing, community services, technology, philanthropy and business services.  The Executive Director is responsible for overall operations of the community consisting of 40 apartments in assisted living and soon to be 16 apartments in a new memory care neighborhood.  The Executive Director will establish and maintain family relationships, meet financial expectations, adhere to company and community policies and procedures and uphold Transforming Age's Mission, Vision and Values.

     

    For all team members of VCC who commute from off of Vashon Island, the community covers 100% of the cost of the ferry fare to and from the island.

    Positions Details

    Primary responsibilities include the following:

     

    • Actively participate in and provides leadership for the community and its team members 
    • Implement programs and services for residents developed in tandem with Regional and Corporate team members 
    • Ensure VCC is in compliance with regulatory standards
    • Direct the management team to ensure the success of the community in their areas of responsibility, including:
    • Work with residents, family and responsible parties to achieve a high level of satisfaction
    • Maintain a positive relationship with internal and external constituents
    • Facilitate open communication with team members and peers
    • Maintain confidentiality of team member and resident records as appropriate
    • Maintain accountability for all areas of operations, meeting all financial and budgetary objectives
    • Participate in and be accountable for oversight of all marketing and sales activities and results 
    • Operate the community in accordance with Transforming Age’s policies and procedures and ensure the safety and security of residents and team members 
    • Promote the Mission, Vision and Values of Transforming Age in all areas of responsibility
    • Get to know the greater Vashon Community and be able to give presentations about Vashon Community Care and the care and services we provide.
    • Join and participate in local Vashon Island organizations, such as the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary or other organizations.
    • Responsible for the implementation of OSHA and Safety guidelines 

     

    Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

     

    • Knowledge of senior living community development as well as state and federal laws and regulations applicable to the senior living industry
    • Experience working with assisted living, memory care and retirement communities, and experience with budgets and capital improvement projects. 
    • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft Office products
    • Proven leadership and administrative skills with a professional demeanor
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Proven aptitude for understanding and analyzing financial reporting and requirements of the community
    • Professional and attitude, appearance and presence
    • Must possess current and valid driver’s license 
    • Must be a great listener and communicator

     

    Education/Equivalent Experience Required:

     

    • College degree in a related area of study preferred but not required.
    • Minimum of three years of experience working in related organizations, with an emphasis on assisted living and memory support. 
    • A minimum of three years of management and leadership experience.
    • Washington State Assisted Living Administrator certificate or able to obtain.
