Overview

We are accepting applications for a full-time custodian. The work hours are from 3:00pm to 11:30pm, Monday thru Wednesday and 2:00pm to 10:30pm, Saturday and Sunday.

Positions Details

The position is responsible for providing custodial services for the Housekeeping Services Department in accordance with policies, procedures and safety and environmental guidelines.

 

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Provides a variety of physically demanding, custodial-related tasks inside and outside of the building
  • Performs routines assigned, and cleans common areas and other assigned areas
  • Observes all environmental, MSDS, safety, and related regulations
  • Provides building security
  • Prepares and organizes materials and equipment
  • Reports items that need repair immediately
  • Keeps common areas and rest rooms clean as per checklists and as assigned
  • Conducts rounds according to set schedule of times and areas.  Cleans kitchen and Health Care Center as per checklist
  • Reports and responds to resident requests, and responds to any emergencies
  • Makes notes of any problems found, or resident comments, and turns the notes in daily to the supervisor
  • Relates well to residents, public & staff
  • During emergencies, the evening and graveyard custodian will assume the role of disaster control officer during their scheduled shift
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to, responding to the fire panel, ensuring that the emergency generator is operating when needed, and various other duties associated with emergency preparedness 

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Specialized Training Required:

  • Must be at least 18years of ageMust be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Must be able to follow oral and written directions and instruction, with the ability to work independently and cooperatively as a member of a team
  • Must have the desire and ability to solve problems, have initiative, and be willing to work flexible hours
  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills and maintain a high degree of cleanliness
  • Must have good manual dexterity and the ability to work with required equipment and to perform physically active work for the entire shift
  • Requires the ability to walk the stairs from the basement to the 15th floor in 10 minutes to assist in emergency procedures
