The DNS is accountable for the nursing practices in Parkshore's Health Center, Assisted Living and Memory Support residents. The DNS directs and manages the delivery of health care services to meet the needs of the Health Services residents and directs the nursing program and manages department operations.
Meets regularly with the Health Services Director and Executive Director to establish direction and priorities.
Participates in strategic planning and standard setting. Creates an annual work plan and budget for the department. Assesses the needs of the department annually.
Ensures safety, environmental, and risk management requirements are met and maintained.
Plans staffing needs.
Schedules projected performance reviews for the year, projected in-service topics / dates, and projected dates to write resident care plans.
Determines admissions needs and goals.
Schedules staff and assigns work.
Completes Human Resource and Payroll functions for the nursing department.
Oversees resident care. Monitors for quality and resident satisfaction.
Participates in committees and meetings as required.
Develops, updates, and maintains policies and procedures.
Assists in providing Health Care services as necessary.
Monitors that staff have valid and current degrees, licenses, and certificates.
Approves billings and expenses. Secures necessary supplies and equipment.
Works with Medical Director to formulate and review resident care policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Provides information and support to families of residents, responding to concerns and addressing special needs.
Coordinates services of consultant providers.
Assures the availability and maintenance of equipment and supplies for health center.
Oversees care plan process, assures proper charting according to federal and state regulations.
Oversees preparation for annual state survey.
Assists in the coordination of resident inter-facility transfers and hospitalizations.
Advises family members, administration, and other appropriate parties of significant changes in health of residents.
Promotes the Mission, Vision and Values of Transforming Age in all areas of responsibility.
Education/Experience/Knowledge/Specialized Training Required:
A FUN, upbeat personality, can-do attitude and willingness to work as part of a cohesive team with both internal team members and external consultants, providers and support services.
Be a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington.
Have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience and two (2) years recent experience in Geriatrics.
Proven management/leadership and administrative skills with a professional demeanor, speaking and writing abilities.
Intermediate computer skills with word processing and spread sheet experience.
